The world feels chaotic for everyone. Most of us feel our lives flooded with uncertainty. Social media makes things worse as algorithms track not only what you like, but what you don't like. The tech bros are simply interested in your engagement and data... not your real life or your peace. Corporations spend billions turning us against each other for profit and leverage. If the powerful can separate us from each other, then we are easier to control. We become a market to target. News agencies used to be reliable, but are now almost entirely profit-driven. The problem isn't left versus right, it's top versus bottom... The rich versus the rest of us.
So what can we do? For starters, we can organize ourselves in the way humans do best — face-to-face, united as a community, working toward our common good. RevellionFest was born to make human connection fun again.
Music and comedy and bonfires are just the beginning. RevellionFest is intended to become a community celebration.
A day of community-driven entertainment, education and solutions. We will create a fun space where artists and leaders share skills and access to resources. We will reimagine local resilience beyond mainstream narragives, and have a great time doing it! We focus on uplifting voices, fostering safety, and celebrating what unites us. The main stage will feature music and comedy, with speakers in between sets. A second stage is intended for experts giving informational mini-seminars, open mic, and round-table discussions. There will be food trucks and booths where local artists can sell their creations, as well as exhibits that people can interact with and learn from.
This will NOT be a place for corporate interests. We will strive to only involve local businesses, nonprofits, and artists. There will be presentations touching on political issues, but they will be about bridging the gaps which elites have used to separate and disempower us.
This festival is what neighbors make it. We're seeking partners who believe in grassroots collaboration. If you have ideas, let us know.
